What do hotels do to keep white towels white?

Commercial laundries typically wash towels at high temperatures, ranging from 60°C to 80°C, which effectively removes stains and eliminates bacteria. They also use oxygen-based whitening agents, such as Vanish, which brighten the towels without causing damage to the fibres. Unlike bleach, which can provide an immediate whitening effect, oxygen-based agents are gentler and preserve the integrity of the fabric over time. Bleach, while sometimes used at home, is avoided in hotels because it can permanently weaken and degrade the fibres, shortening the towel’s lifespan. These careful laundering practices ensure hotel towels remain bright, soft, and long-lasting, even with frequent use.
